At the beginning of August, one of our Client Relationship Managers. Alesha Campbell, went and stayed at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver to discover the protocols put in place for COVD-19. The hotel is located on the city's waterfront with sweeping mountain vistas in the Vancouver's core. Alesha fills us in on how her stay went.
Check-in
At arrival to the hotel, there were hand sanitizer units available right at the front doors as well as signage reminding everyone of social distancing measures. There is plexiglass up between each check-in counter and traveller, as well as a Covid-19 Health Disclosure Declaration that each individual checking in must fill out. Additionally, all front desk staff were wearing masks and there were social distancing floor signage and directional arrows to move people seamlessly.
At the end of my stay, check out was contactless, with an invoice emailed to me and I was told that all room keys turned in are sanitized and reused.
Amenities
The hotel's spa, Spa Utopia, is now open and with specific COVID guidelines and measures in place. The gym and pool are open as well. In the pool area there are social distancing measures in place for pool chair access and, additional cleaning is also in place and limited amount of guests to use the hot tub at a time.
Valet is currently suspended as well but self parking is available and easily accessible.
Room Tour
All extras that cannot be sanitized have been removed, such as magazines, decorative pillows, mini bar items etc... Coffee is still available and bottles of water were in the room as well.
Although daily housekeeping and turndown is suspended, when we did need an extra few towels and coffee pods, with one call to the front desk, it was nicely left at our door within minutes for a contactless drop off.
Cleaning Protocols
Throughout this time, the hotel has upgraded all of their Ecolab housekeeping chemicals, increased the frequency of cleaning public areas and have implemented additional cleaning measures to keep customer health and safety top of mind.
Food and Beverage

There is definitely a modified service when it comes to food and beverage. During my stay there was one restaurant for breakfast, one option for lunch depending on the day of the week and a light dining and drinks served at the Coal Harbour Bar with additional dinner service at the Five Sails Restaurant. At the time of my stay room service was suspended, however, take out was available from the restaurants when open.
"Social Distancing was definitely accomplished at this hotel and is something they have done a great job with. Due to the fact the hotel was an older build they definitely do not get to take advantage of the automated doors as much as some hotels. For example, the double doors on the way to the pool are all opened by handles. I did stay during the week so it wasn’t as busy as on the weekends and I felt like myself and my family had lots of space and never felt too close to anyone. Although there is limited food options the meals we did have were all fantastic and there was nothing we needed that they didn’t have."
